This 74,500 seat-stadium boasts of being the first stadium in the UK to have a retractable roof.
8000 tonnes of structural tubular steel makes up the roof structure, which consists of two moveable 560 tonne, 80 m tubular framed sections sit onto two primary tubular trusses, each 220 m long. It has a total area of 26,862m2 of which 8,960m2 is movable.
Another 6500 tonnes of structural tubular steel was used to create the stadium stands, which equates to a total of 14,500 tonnes of Circular (CHS), Rectangular (RHS) structural hollow sections and plate.
